Richard Sandler, executive vice president of the Milken Family Foundation, explains the importance of recognizing outstanding Jewish day school teachers through the Jewish Educator Award and thanks Valley Beth Shalom Day School for representing excellence in education. The son of one of VBS’ founding members, Sandler – and his family – have experienced VBS’s rich Jewish education firsthand. “The Jewish people have survived for thousands of years because we never forget who we are, where we come from, and why it’s important. That is what Jewish day schools are doing each and every day.” Then, the next order of business: Sandler reveals that a teacher right in this room will be one of four recipients of the 2024 Jewish Educator Award!
